Canon, Nikon, Sony, and the rest need to stop worrying about each other, at least for the moment. 1/20/2020
Hashtags are a #beast, don’t you agree, boo boo? >>Who would’ve thought that a tiny pound sign could open a door to being discovered on social media?! #mindblown<< Hashtags can be used #anytime and #anywhere…like in this blog post. #sorrynotsorry But for the sake of simplicity, let’s chat about three tips for using hashtags solely in Instagram Stories, shall we? #ViewinghashtagsonIGstories
![]() If you’re viewing a story and click on a hashtag, you’re taken to the photo feed of the hashtag. If you’d like to view the stories including that hashtag, simply click on the stories feature in the top left corner of the page for that particular hashtag. #HidinghashtagsonIGstories
Don’t worry, this isn’t #shady…unlike tagging someone in stories and then hiding the tags. When you hide hashtags, you’re inserting yourself into the social conversation without throwing shade. If you want to appear in a stories hashtag but don’t want to show the hashtag you’re using, all you have to do is list the hashtags, make them smaller, and then cover them with a GIF! Bonus points if you create your own GIF! Find out how >>HERE!<< Or you could use one of my NEW GIFs! Find them by searching #jasminestar ![]() #LimitofhashtagsonIGstories
>>Unlike Instagram posts that have a limit of 30 hashtags, stories have a limit of 10 hashtags each.<< If you’re wanting to remain consistent across a series of stories, you can choose to keep the same 10 hashtags throughout, but you can also switch it up and use different hashtags for each story slide, ya feel me? #youdoyou I’m not sure if there’s a limit to hashtags in a blog post, but I’m pretty sure I’ve almost reached it. #overkill The post 3 Tips for Instagram Story Hashtags appeared first on Jasmine Star. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 https://ift.tt/2NKxUsp Go Run A Business
1/17/2020
Get ready, boo boo. I’m about to ruffle some feathers. Do people say your work is terrible? Good. Go run a business. See, I told you…feathers are ruffled! *Actually, make that the whole dang chicken coop!* For over a decade, I’ve fielded criticism from other photographers who think my work is terrible. But, I no longer let it get to me because I now know they’re viewing things from the wrong perspective. *Photography pun intended!* ![]() Here’s how I see it: >>You don’t have to be the best at what you do. You simply have to be able to connect with your customers better than the competition.<<
All we have to do is grab our audience’s attention and prove that we are the best for THEM. Do you want to get busy? Grow your brand? Have a wildly successful career? Good. Go run a business. Talk to your customers in a way that makes you seem like the perfect (and only) fit for them. Clearly demonstrate your understanding for their needs, proving that you care. >>You don’t need to be the best in the industry. You simply need to be the best for YOUR customers.<< Create content that will attract customers who are looking for what you provide. Be sure to use searchable key phrases so it’s easier for people to find you. And when they do, personalize your content so it speaks to them AND is a reflection of your brand. >>When people feel like content is written for them, they’re more likely to stay connected.<< Are you ready to ruffle some feathers yourself, friend? Good. Go run a business. I wish you the best as you learn how to be the best…for your customers. Their opinion is all that matters! 1/16/2020
Hustler, to stick out in a saturated market, you have to become the go-to business based on YOUR purpose and YOUR defined promise. *AKA- what youâll deliver to the customer.* >>A simple way to showcase your value in your marketing is by filling a specific need and finding your niche. << *AKA- who you serve and how you serve them.* This is important for business owners in all stages of business because getting specific will make it easier to advertise your business and explain EXACTLY what you do. Donât you worry, boo boo! You donât need to carry a magnifying glass or be Sherlock Holmes in order to solve this case. If you answer these three questions, youâll be able to define your niche faster than Detective Holmes can say, âDr. Watson.â Who do you serve?
Clearly identify the type of person your ideal client isâ¦and be specific! >>When you can focus on a very specific group of people, youâll have an easier time becoming an industry leader and authority in your field.<< When I first started my photography business, my ideal clients were brides. I didnât photograph newborns sessions, senior portraits, or family shots. I focused all my attention on brides. ![]() What problem do you solve?
Once youâve identified who you serve, determine how you can help them by offering the easiest and most effective solutions. >>The best businesses take time to understand what problem they are solving and create messages around that.<< Brides want to feel confident in their vendor decisions. I made sure that my clients knew I would show up, do all that I could, and provide quality photos of the best day of their lives. What makes you different?
This is your chance to stick out from the competition. Highlight your uniqueness! >>We all have unique experiences and insights that we could use to differentiate our business from others.<< This could be big things like degrees, certifications, and awards. But it can also be unconventional things like being self-taught, having a great personality, or making things easy to understand. Make a list of what makes you specifically qualified to serve your niche. As a photographer, my unique assets were:
Congratulations, Buttercup. By answering these questions, youâve successfully reached detective status without even trying! Now go test out those skills and speak to your niche! 1/15/2020
Hustler, I know youâre rushed for time. Youâre out there doing #allthethings, but no matter how hard you work, you still end the day tired and stressed, with an unfinished to-do list to boot. Donât you wish there were more hours in a day?! What if I told you some tricks I learned that actually SAVED time? If you give me three minutes, Iâll give you three ways to save three hours per day. *Itâs a time-saving trio!* Time-saver tip #1: Create customizable email templates
I used to spend at least two hours each day responding to emails. *Talk about a time sucker!* When I really started paying attention, I found myself saying the same things over and over again. >>By simply creating a list of my 15 most common email responses and writing up some email templates, I now spend HALF the amount of time in my inbox than I used to!<< My new rule of thumb is if I have to write the same email response more than twice, I create a template for it! Just leave a few places open for customization for each client and bingo, you just got back some time, my friend! ![]() Time-saver tip #2: Track your hours
I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time getting distracted by doing things that felt like work, with nothing to show for it in the end. *cough, mindlessly scrolling Instagram, cough* I then learned about Parkinsonâs Law, which states that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. Raise your hand if youâre also guilty of filling in the time doing unproductive work! >>By tracking my time, I was able to stay on task, get a feel for how long a task should actually take, and rid myself of HOURS worth of distracted âworkâ!<< The solution I found to be most effective for tracking my time was using apps like Toggl and Everhour. You can bet I still scroll Instagram, but I do it for a limited amount of time AND when my other (necessary) tasks are completed! Time-saver tip #3: Get your groceries delivered
To be honest, I was embarrassed to admit my love affair with grocery delivery. I grew up poor, so there are certain privileges that felt like a luxury to me. Paying to have groceries delivered to my doorstep twice a week DEFINITELY seemed too luxurious. But then I realized something: >>Time is the ultimate luxury, and how we use this un-renewable currency is up to us.<< Now my groceries are brought to me at the push of a button. Yes, it may cost more when you factor in the delivery fee and tip, but the time that I save is worth it! I use Whole Foods Market through Amazon Prime, but Instacart is also great, and there are other national chains like Ralphâs that now offer delivery, too. *Hop on this luxury train with meâ¦choo choo!* >>Boo boo, no matter how much we wish for more time, we only have 24 precious hours in a day.<< Make the most of the time youâve been blessed with by making these small changes to see HUGE time-saving results!

1/10/2020
Chances are good that you know what a GIF is by now. *Although the correct pronunciation still seems to be a HUGE debate!* But did you know that you could make your own GIFs?! >>GIFs are a great way to raise awareness for your business.<< Until recently, I didn’t know HOW to do it, but after getting a few made for myself (stay tuned for a few previews!), I realized just how easy it really was! You can make a GIF in a jiffy! Use these four steps to create your own GIFs that can be used to grow your business by catching people’s attention! Step 1: Choose Your PoseWhat signature phrases, expressions, or movements would you like to put into GIF form? The options are endless here, but we suggest choosing options that have meaning to you AND that you could use countless times! For example, I wanted to have a GIF that I could use in my Instagram stories of a phrase my audience knows I use often, so we created this one: ![]() Step 2: RecordNOTE: If you are only creating GIFs with a phrase or animated text, skip to Step 3. Next, find a videographer (recommended) with a studio or rent a studio to record your options from Step 1 in front of a green screen. That way, the background can be removed and YOU can be cut out. For the DIYers out there, you may choose to set up your own recording studio by using a camera and tripod and ordering a green screen online. *This may be trickier if you don’t have a professional camera, however!* Step 3: Create Your GIFNow it’s time to find a motion graphic designer or animator that will help make your GIFs come to life! We used PeoplePerHour for our project. Here’s what our project listing looked like: Title: Multiple Animated GIFs Required – Quick Turnaround Description: Looking for a talented motion graphic designer/animator to create animated GIFs from graphics and green screen videos. These GIFs will then be used in our social media campaigns. Please reply with examples of your work, your turnaround time for a GIF, and hourly rate. USA/Canada/UK ONLY. From there, you’ll receive multiple proposals. You can correspond with designers, ask to view their work, and ultimately choose who you’d like to work with.
