Has Your Organic Reach Dropped?
4/30/2021
Do you have a love/hate relationship with the social media algorithm? Social media platforms are always changing their algorithms in order to prevent the system from being rigged or predictable. This is actually good for creators. It forces us to be on our toes and add valuable content. However, you may have noticed that your organic reach doesn’t get you as far as it once did. *Oh, Dreamer, you are not alone.* >>As more and more people join the platform daily, it will continue to be more difficult to get your content seen.<< We have already seen this play out on Facebook. There was a time when Facebook was doling out 8-10% organic reach. Yet, as more people got on the platform, the organic reach dropped. Now, if you want to guarantee people will see your posts, you have to pay for it. I believe Instagram and other platforms are headed in the same direction. The truth is, your organic reach will never be better than it is right now. That is just the state of the industry. >>It is going to get even more difficult to get your content seen, but that should not dissuade you. Why? Because it’s still an opportunity to market your business for free.<< Have you been in business long enough to remember when the only way people could see your content was if you paid for a radio ad, a TV commercial, a billboard, or a mailer? Now, social media platforms are giving you the ability to get eyes on your business for FREE. Does free marketing look like it did in the past? Probably not. Do you think I’m going to complain? Not a chance.
>>But I will forever be grateful for the free avenues of social media to market my business.<< So, how can we take advantage of free marketing while also getting as many eyes on our content as possible? If you want to maximize the reach of your messaging and organic content, my best advice is to go Live! Regardless of the platform, Live videos are indexed very well, and notoriously get better reach than a static post. Trust me, friend, I know that can seem daunting! That’s why I created my Business Owner’s Guide to Going Live on Facebook and Instagram. It will help you prepare to serve up your organic content in a whole new way! These small pockets of time can move the needle in your business when you show up consistently. >>Ten minutes per day may not *sound* like much, but multiply that by 7 days in a week. Do you worry people are going to judge you for those big, audacious dreams you have, Hustler? I know it can be daunting, but I want to remind you of one thing: That is a choice. >>You can choose to value somebody’s judgement of your dreams more than you choose to value your worth.<< But I am not going to fight for your limitations, friend. If you say you are going to choose to put faith in their opinions of you, go right ahead. But if you don’t want anyone else’s opinion prevent you from broadcasting the message you were put on this earth to share? *Well, Buttercup, make that choice instead.* >>The minute you say that no one is going to hold you back from what you want to do, you take their opinions, crumble them up, and throw them away.<<
>>And when you choose to stand in your purpose, you will find yourself free from the shackles of people’s expectations.<< It is not easy, but I promise it will be worth it. Will you allow me a second to speak from my soul? I know that every week I create content around the hustle. You’ll see photos, videos, and Live presentations by me alllllll about getting out there and doing the WERK. But, I also know there are times when you just don’t feel like you could add anything else to your plate. >>I understand that when we are building a business, sometimes the last thing we want to hear is a suggestion of something more for us to do.<<
*Is it overwhelming to you, Hustler?* If you find yourself thinking, “I don’t even have 7 minutes a day to watch a tutorial or training, let alone deploy on the action,” then this post is specifically for you. Your to-do list is a mile long without anyone else adding to it. You don’t need something else to do. *I get it. I truly do.* But….
If you have 2 minutes today and 2 minutes tomorrow, you have 4 minutes to make a difference. >>I don’t believe you have to spend a certain amount of time to move the needle, however I do believe in making the most out of time spent.<< *Quality over quantity, my friend!* You need to make a little bit of time to get the results that you want. I don’t know how you spend your minutes and your hours in your day, but I do know you have responsibilities that require your time and energy:
Whatever your reality, despite how busy you are, you long for more. You desire to diversify your revenue streams, build a brand, and make a difference in the world. *And, hunnayyy, I’ll clap that up!* If that’s something you want to do, you will have to *make* some time in your day to prioritize it, too. >>You can’t give up on your dreams just because you can’t do everything you want in the timeline that you want.<<
I believe that micro pieces of time well spent will elevate you more than you realize. If you say you don’t have time, that becomes a fact. Instead, I’m going to invite you to change your belief. You currently believe you don’t have time, but how are you spending it? What would it look like if you made some small changes to free up just a few short minutes each day?
What would it look like to change your behaviors to get what you want? >>Ask yourself: “Am I spending my time the way that I should?<< *Now we’re having a different conversation.* If you have 5 minutes each weekday to have some uninterrupted, focused time on the thing you dream about, that becomes 25 minutes a week you spent changing the world for the better. An extra 25 minutes a week to market your business and build a brand? *That’s how you move the needle, baby!* So between now and the next time we have a conversation, Buttercup, I want you to think seriously about the time that you spend and where you invest it. If you need a little help determining how to prioritize your time, I haven’t left you hanging! We recently rented a studio in Brea, California to shoot photos for Social Curator. Only 0.6 miles down Imperial Boulevard from the studio is a restaurant called Lucille’s Barbecue. Why does a restaurant matter? *Great question.* When I was preparing to go to law school, I took a job waitressing at a place called Lucille’s. *Yes, this very Lucille’s.* As I drove past that restaurant 15 years later on my way to the photoshoot, I took a look at my old place of work and said, “Thank you, God.” Because not too long ago, I was a girl slinging ribs, serving up some back porch lemonade, and doling out banana cream pie to save money for law school. *A career path which I later realized I never wanted.* >>Now, 15 years later, I have a career I love, a small family I adore, and big dreams to keep moving forward.<< It feels so good to have a full-circle moment as a reminder of not only where I’ve been but also where I’m going. That job that got me to this place. >>I express gratitude for the humble beginnings, and I express gratitude for the even better future.<< If you are ready to level up from humble beginnings, I have just the resource for you. Learn all about the basics of building a brand and marketing it on social media in my free Social Media Marketing Guide. In it, you’ll learn exactly how I leveraged social media to move away from Lucille’s and into my purpose. 4/19/2021
Do you ever find yourself wondering if your passion is something you should turn into a business? Or maybe you wonder if it should remain something you do for fun with no strings attached? I know it can be overwhelming to consider all the possibilities, but I have great news: >>You get to choose your own adventure, and I want to help you start today!<< Let’s begin by answering 3 simple questions to determine whether what you’re passionate about should be a hobby or become a business:
I bet you knew the answer as soon as I asked the last question. You knew deep down what the answer has always been. >>If your gut reaction was yes, then you should make your side hustle a legitimate business!<< If the thought of selling your product or service did not light you up, or maybe you just like the little extra income it brings in or the things you learn along the way, then you should keep it as a hobby… at least for now. Once you’ve made the decision, here are 3 questions to help you take action on the path you’ve chosen, regardless of the direction you’re headed:
Once you know what you NEED, it’ll act as a reminder of WHY you’re choosing to pursue it, even on the hard days.
This will ensure you don’t burn out or resent pursuing it.
If it’s a business: Decide what the endgame is. Where do you want it to go? >>It’s okay to dream. It’ll actually help you make decisions today based on where you dream of being in the future.<< If it’s a hobby: What does it need to be for you? You might be okay with it just being something that brings you joy and doesn’t provide an income – that’s fine! The goal with this question is for you to be at peace with your decision and to know where your business or hobby is going. *See friend? You’ve chosen your own adventure!* Now you should know if your passion is a business or a hobby, and what you want out of the experience that best serves you and your goals. >>Give yourself permission to commit to either a business or a hobby. The sooner you choose what it is, the more enjoyment you’ll get out of the process.<< Sure, you might not be where you want to be right now, but once you know where you’re heading, you can enjoy the ride. Friend, if your passion is a business, I want to help you build it! You know I love sharing everything I know in the hopes that it will help another entrepreneur build a business and a life they love. Clubhouse is a new, voice-only app that is currently in beta testing, but that hasn’t stopped thousands of industry experts from using it to:
I’m going to give you 7 different ways you can use this app to grow your business, but before we get there, let me explain WHY I’m obsessed with building connections on Clubhouse. Since 2006, I’ve hit the “Publish” button on my blog over 2,500 times, sent thousands of emails to my newsletter list, and poured my heart out to followers in social media posts across several platforms. >>For many years, writing was my exclusive way of communicating with my audience.<< I knew my ability to write was an asset as a business owner, and like my dad always said: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” However, when I began experimenting with using my voice online, I realized there was something powerful about connecting with my audience in this way.
And now, I’ve found the same thing is true as I regularly host Rooms on Clubhouse. This app has become one of my favorite places to hang out, and I have been fascinated with how many industry leaders are using it to get their voice out into the world… and to make sales on social media! *Wonder how they are doing it? I got you, Hustler!* >>In order to turn followers into customers, you must serve them with something they NEED, capture their attention, and build trust. << These industry experts are serving their audience and subsequently gaining their trust by hosting regular Clubhouse Rooms to educate, entertain, or encourage them. *And you can too, Buttercup!* Some examples of Rooms you can host as a business owner are:

4/14/2021
To those who made me doubt, caused me fear, or whispered about me: THANK YOU. I want to thank every person who ever doubted my capacity to succeed. THANK YOU:
>>I want to say thank you to every person who said I wasn’t enough… Because I have proven that I am.<< My ability to step on a stage, teach a class, or show up live on social media? That is only a by-product of getting up after making mistakes time and time again. *And I do it for you, friend.* >>Every time I step up, I also understand that I’m setting the standard and example for those who follow in my wake.<< So I will thank those doubters, haters, and unbelievers, and so should you, Buttercup. You see, those people shape who we’re destined to become. As long as we remain committed to getting up after we’ve been knocked down, we’ve won. If we continue moving forward, no matter how small our steps appear, we will prevail. Refuse to let their judgement stop you from doing what you’ve been called to do. Those haters? They are going to be the people to get you to where you want to go. Why? >>Because you will continue to rise.<< For more mindset shifts like this one, download my FREE Mindset Makeover Workbook. 4/12/2021
If I had one wish, do you know what it would be? >>I’d wish to save you time so you could do more of the things you love.<< *Would you wish for that, too?* Well, you’re in luck, Buttercup, because your wish is now granted! *And yes, you can consider me your fairy godmother.* The most time-consuming part of being a business owner on social media is creating content, content, and more content. It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin! I want to show you how to take what you already have and capitalize on it by repurposing content.
This strategy will keep content creation at an all-time high while replacing dread and drudgery with creativity. *Ready to work smarter, not harder? Let’s dive in!* 1. Select your pillar platform and repurposing platformsYour pillar platform is where all of your content is posted FIRST. >>Your pillar platform is usually where you can post longer-form content, where your dream customer hangs out the most, and where you are willing to spend the most time.<<
Once you have your pillar platform identified, decide what secondary platforms you’ll repurpose the content on. If you’re new to repurposing, it may be best to simply start with one, but you can repurpose on as many platforms as you’d like! 2. Plan your pillar content for the weekEvery single week, you will choose one pillar content topic that will be posted first on your pillar platform and then be repurposed onto the others. This is typically the step that causes the most stress, especially if you use multiple platforms for your business, but it’s rather simple. >>Choose the topics that your ideal client needs to hear about and topics that set you apart as an industry authority.<< 3. Repurpose your content for the following weekIf you were to pull up all of my social media platforms, you’d notice that 80% of my content is the same. However, there are two main differences: time and context. Simply put, I stagger content and ensure it respects each platform. For example, whatever I post on Instagram will then be posted on Facebook one week later. >>My tried-and-true method is repurposing content on my secondary platform is one week + four hours after it is posted on my pillar platform.<< People may platform hop, but they are also on social platforms at different times. So if they’re surfing Instagram in the morning, they probably won’t stumble upon the same post published a week later on Facebook in the middle of the day. One mistake that many people make when sharing across multiple platforms is copying and pasting the exact same content. *But not you, Buttercup!* Make sure your content is in the right context for the platform it’s on. >>Modify 5-10% of the original post to match the context of each individual platform.<< For example, Instagram uses @mentions and hashtags, but those won’t translate well to Facebook. Instead, tag the person or company within Facebook and delete hashtag references. I know that can be a lot to take in, that’s why I created How To Turn One Piece of Content Into Ten with My Proven Repurposing Strategy. This workbook will walk you through this process step-by-step so you can start churning out content like a champ! Let me paint a picture for you, friend…. >>There was a time in your life where you dreamed of being in the place you are now.<< You saw yourself contented – *no, ecstatic* – with everything you currently have. You dreamed big, wild, audacious dreams. Then lo and behold, against all odds, you got it all.
You did it! Yet… the feeling of euphoria doesn’t accompany it. Instead, you find yourself wondering why it still doesn’t feel like enough. Does that sound familiar, Buttercup? >>Do you struggle wanting more, while simultaneously wanting to be satisfied with everything you already have?<< *Oh, sweet soul, I’ve been there, too.* What if I told you they were two sides of the same coin? Hustle and gratitude don’t have to work in opposition to each other. They actually belong side-by-side. >>If you aren’t satisfied with what you have now, what you want in the future isn’t going to satisfy you either.<< Expressing desire for what you want after being appreciative of what you have today will prevent you from running in circles. The beauty of development is the constant state of growth. >>The hustle doesn’t last forever, but discipline and work ethic will.<< Now, some people may disagree with me, but I don’t want to grind until the grave. But I also believe that if I am starting a business, have a massive opportunity, or make a pivot, there is a level of growth and grind as you learn something new. After you reach your goals, do you have to work as hard as you always have? No.
Let’s say, for example, that you have a goal to have a million-dollar business… When you reach that goal and it functions like a well-oiled machine, you could take a big step back from your business, hire additional team members and virtual assistants, and have a 4-hour work week. *If that is what you want to do, I will clap that up allllll day!* But, if you are the kind of person whose dreams continue to expand with each passing year, then I’ll clap that up, too! >>Regardless of the path you choose, gratitude is the antidote to endless desire and envy.<< Gratitude will keep us grounded as we temper our external desires and focus on internal satisfaction. And that is exactly what I wish for you, my friend. If you are feeling pulled in different directions by your hustle and gratitude, take a look at this Mindset Makeover Workbook. It is my go-to when I need to recalibrate, and I hope it can do the same for you!
