Recently, my team and I were batching video content in my apartment complex, and we had clear views of the pool right outside the window… And I’ll be honest: I was so jealous. I thought, “I don’t want to be working! I want to be out by the pool right now!” But then I reminded myself that the work we’re doing is going to get me to where I want to go. It’s not my time to rest yet. That time will come, but it isn’t now. >>When I’m feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just plain jealous of my carefree neighbors living it up at the pool, I anchor myself to my purpose.<< I have always believed that my actions map my aspirations. I can’t have big dreams and act as if they’re just going to come to me without doing the work! ![]() So, wherever you are right now:
Remember that we all want to be by the pool. >>The difference is that some of us will choose to go to the pool, and some of us will choose to do the work to get us to where we want to go.<< Being an entrepreneur means that you’re willing to do what others won’t.
But make no mistake: it ain’t for the faint of heart. You must LOVE the *process* of growing, not just the perks of the blossom. You and me, Hustler? We’re doing big things. ![]() If you’re ready to do big things together, I’d be honored if you joined me for my upcoming free class, How to Beat the Algorithm. Did you know that there are three types of Instagram Guides you can be creating for your business? >>Instagram Guides are curated groups of posts, products, or places that you can offer your audience.<< Although you can create any type of Guide you’d like, a certain type could be more advantageous for growing your business. Below is a list of the 3 types of Instagram Guides, and who should create them. The 3 Types of Instagram Guides are:
A great option for physical-location businesses, Place Guides showcase where your business is. A key feature of this type of Guide is that any post with your desired geo-tag can be added to the Guide, meaning that apart from using your own content, you can also aggregate content from customers, clients, or anyone who has tagged your location, letting their posts do the selling for you! Use Place Guides to recommend places in your city and beyond. Share your favorite spots in the city your business is located or local recommendations for your ideal client or dream customer. ![]()
An obvious choice for product-based businesses, Product Guides allow the option to pull posts related to certain products available for sale. Once your products have been added to the Instagram Shop, you can create a Guide featuring them. This Guide is also a great option for affiliate marketing and Influencers due to the ability to share any product as long as it’s connected to the Instagram Shop. If your business sells physical items, Product Guides are a great place to showcase groupings of products and recommend your favorites to help your ideal client or dream customer choose what’s best for them.
Giving access to consolidated, curated content, Post Guides are a great way to aggregate posts that you’ve either created yourself or saved from other accounts. This type of Guide is a great option for service-based businesses. Similar to searching for specific hashtags within Instagram, Post Guides allow you to group content based on their topic. Since the posts have already been made, all you have to do is come up with headlines and commentary! Although you can select a number of posts to share in one Guide, we suggest the fewer the better. Make each Guide as niched down as possible, sharing pieces of advice or tips and tricks by category to make it easier for your audience to gather information. ![]() If you’re ready to create your first Guide, I’d love to, well… “Guide” the way on your journey to serving your audience in a whole new way. People do it all the time. But do I recommend it? No. I recommend building your business with social media because it is:
But John (and maybe you, Buttercup!): you probably asked this question because you’re feeling overwhelmed with all of the options for social media. If this is the case for you, too, then you’re probably already familiar with taking selfies for your business… So today, I want to give you 5 simple selfie ideas to add to your picture-taking arsenal straight from a photographer herself!
Taking a photo while laughing is one of the most natural ways to connect with your audience on social media. When shooting a selfie with The Laughing pose, feel free to have a friend, partner, or team member help make you giggle. *JD is always the one pulling me out of my shell and making this pose less awkward to take!*
For the Playing with Hair pose, simply lean against a desk or wall and lift one of your hands to lightly grab a portion of your hair. Take a few shots looking at the camera and smiling, as well as ones when you’re looking away from the camera to give yourself more options! ![]()
Quite possibly the easiest pose on the list, all you need for this one is a pair of sunglasses. Sit in a natural position, then simply look up and away from the camera for a more casual look while taking your selfie.
This is probably one of my favorite poses because it prevents me from looking stiff and overly posed. To use the Hand on Chin pose, just make a fist and rest your chin lightly on top, leaning the front of your body slightly forward. *Try to keep your shoulders square, though, so you don’t look hunched!*
Okay, I lied… THIS is the easiest pose! Not sure what to do with your hands? Pick up a coffee cup and say cheese! Since it’s a bit casual, I like to pair the Holding a Coffee Cup pose with a more relaxed caption, such as my weekend plans or an engaging conversation-starter with my audience. There you have it, friend! Which selfie will you try today? Your first dad and mom loved you, but they decided they needed help raising you. They chose us, and we believe you chose us, too. Today we’re taking you to visit the hospital where you were born, the courthouse that ruled in our favor for custody, and the hotel where we first met. …And JD and I are retracing the steps that led us to you. >>Today is February 1st, and on this day last year, your papi and I spent the day talking to social workers, tracking down hospital records, and buying diapers.<< We drove in agonized silence, not knowing who you were, yet loving you fully. A year later, we’ll show you the hospital corridors we paced, where we stopped the car to pray for you, and the valet who helped us buckle in your car seat for the first time. These memories are simple—ridiculous to most—but they are the crystalized moments before getting the honor of becoming your parents. We made a promise to return every year to Las Vegas to remind you of your roots, to never forget the love your first parents had (and have) for you, and the painful decision they made to share you with us. We also hope these trips serve as a reminder of how much you mean to us. >>Nothing makes us happier than cuddling in bed, begging you to keep your socks on, and sharing breakfast with you.<< On February 2, 2020, they placed you in my arms. I didn’t know what the future had in store, but looking back, I’d tell myself: “It’s better than you think, she’s pure magic, and she’ll give you courage you couldn’t give yourself.” ![]() The post J* Journal: One Year Ago, They Placed You In My Arms appeared first on Jasmine Star. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 https://ift.tt/3d0alck Since the beginning of my business, I’ve realized the importance of setting goals. *I mean… How can I aim for the target if I don’t even know where the bullseye is located?* When I started my photography business in 2007, I wrote my goals in an old notebook… >>But now when I look back at my many dreams, none of them compared to the reality of what my life has become.<< This is why it’s important for business owners to set goals…to see what’s POSSIBLE when you have a clear plan! Batching. Batching is when you group similar tasks together to complete them at the same time. I set two or three days per month to create all of my video content… But let me tell you friend, these marathon recording sessions don’t happen without WEEKS of advanced planning. *Yes, it’s true: when you have a plan to work smarter, you don’t have to work harder!* >>On recording days, everything from scripts to outfit selections and b-roll is planned in advance so we can work efficiently.<< It’s the best way to streamline our day and make sure we record 4-6 videos in just 6 hours! To apply this step in your own business, I’d recommend starting with who your ideal customer is and what they need to hear right now!
