Friend, be real with me: are you using videos to grow your audience and build trust with your followers? You might be saying, “Jasmine, I don’t have time to create videos for my business,” or “I don’t even know where to start.” If that’s the case, then you’re in for a treat, Buttercup! I’m going to teach you how to batch your videos so it takes just a few hours per month to create high-quality and engaging content that turns your followers into customers. >>My video team, Mar and Ayesha, and I typically get together to record video content in one day and normally 5 hours will yield four 4-minute videos.<< However, in order to get the most out of our time together, there is a lot of planning done beforehand to maximize our time. ![]() Save time using the following tips to work smarter, not harder, during your next video shoot! Tip 1: Write scripts in advance to expedite knowing what to say and how long it’ll take to record each video. Tip 2: Make a list of B-roll before recording (footage to be used to change what the viewer sees, things like: pouring coffee, typing on computer, etc.) to make your videos more visually engaging. Tip 3: Create a timeline to ensure you stay on track, plan fortime to get needed shots, location set-up, and time needed to change outfits. There you have it, friend: a fool-proof way to plan your videos and create beautiful videos to showcase your business. Looking for video ideas? 8/28/2020
Here’s what they won’t tell you about adoption… >>No one explained the sheer force of will it takes not wrap your baby in a flour tortilla and eat her whole, like a burrito.<< …The double-stuffed-Chipotle-style burrito. *Yes, I know guacamole is extra.* >>Real talk: Life has been hard, complicated, and–sometimes–really confusing.<< ![]() Since adopting my daughter, Luna Sol, in February of this year and then going straight into quarantine which rocked everyone’s world, JD and I have looked at each other in desperation more than once as we figure out parenting during a pandemic. Luna creates them for us. >>If you’re having a rough day or week (or, heck, 2020 am I right!?), baby Luna is sending you love and light.<< ![]() Because of our long adoption journey, she represents hope, patience, and love. I started my podcast in October 2019, and I was SO worried my setup wasn’t good enough. *I remember constantly texting my podcast editor Addison for equipment recommendations, begging him to forgive me for my ignorance.* The truth is, I was insecure. >>I didn’t know what to say, I didn’t think anyone would listen, and I cringed at the sound of my voice.<< But in eight months, The Jasmine Star Show crossed a MILLION DOWNLOADS. *Yes, I kiiiiind of just referred to myself in third person…ewww!* The video below gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how I actually record my podcast, and I have to warn you: it isn’t fancy. And these thoughts? They are toxic. >>The best thing you can do as an entrepreneur is stop mid-thought and CHANGE THE NARRATIVE.<< Oh, friend, you must tell yourself a new story. I’ve come to believe you have 60,000 opportunities to tell yourself a story that is unabashedly true: I am enough. Instagram Reels. At the time of this post, the Instagram Reels feature has just been added to Instagram as a quick, fast-paced way to produce content… just like TikTok. >>For business owners, Instagram Reels is the best thing to hit the app since they added Stories.<< Think of Instagram Reels as 15 second micro-commercials that can be edited together rather than recorded in real time like on Stories. ![]() Since the update, I have been discussing with my team how we can incorporate this feature into our content strategy and, of course, I’ve been answering a lot of questions from entrepreneurs on how they can use Instagram Reels for their business. My answer to this question is simple: Use Instagram Reels as a way to establish yourself as an authority and leader in your industry. >>Sure, you could use Reels to showcase your morning coffee, but I’d recommend using them to educate your followers on what you do.<< I know I could do an Instagram Reel about my baby Luna or my relationship with my husband JD, but that doesn’t build my business. Instead, some of the content I’m beginning to create using Instagram Reels include:
As a business owner, your goal should be to create highlight reels that are educational, entertaining, and empowering for your future customers. *No one wants to hop on Instagram to be sold to all the time, Buttercup!* On social media, in order to turn followers into customers, you must:
