Drake is super popular. Social media challenges are all the rage. It seems inevitable that these two things eventually got together and took the internet by storm. And that is exactly what has been going on the past month. The #InMyFeelingsChallenge involves people dancing to Drake’s new hit song, “In My Feelings” (people aren’t to clever with the names of these things these days). The trend started with Shiggy, an online personality, who posted a video of him dancing to the song. The video went viral and, from there, people (including celebrities) started posting videos of the same thing. Problem is that, because this is the world we are living in, people starting jumping out of moving cars and getting their dance on as the car continues to roll down the road (how the trend turned into this, I don’t know) which leads, with no surprise, to people getting hurt. Damn it internet, you always have to take it to far. Safety official and police departments aren’t to happy about the whole thing and are now warning people that it might not be a very good idea. In a few instances, like over in Abu Dhabi, arrest have even been made. Nicholas Worrell, the Chief of Safety Advocacy at the National Transportation Safety Board, got all Debby Downer when talking to Blast.
The NTSB also issued a warning statement via Twitter:
We’ll see if this stops people from moving forward with the challenge. Remember ghost riding? Now that was actually dangerous. People probably got hurt but we just didn’t hear about it because the internet didn’t connect us quite like it does now. Also, will Will Smith ever stop being cool?
