How to Barter for Your Business
12/17/2017
You know those early childhood memories of swapping lunches at school? Your mom made you a ham sandwich and Martin’s mom made him a peanut butter sandwich, so you decided to trade (as long as he threw in a bag of Doritos, too). Can you remember that moment? I can’t. Why, you ask? I WAS HOMESCHOOLED. I never swapped lunches or traded snacks or even exchanged juice-box drinks. Instead my mom would make oatmeal for lunch and say, “Surprise! We’re having breakfast for lunch!” These were not the type of surprises a kid enjoyed. Either way, my first real experience with bartering (an exchange of goods or services without using money) was when I started my photography business. I didn’t have money, but I wanted business cards so much. Let’s be real: I wanted business cards more than a peanut butter sandwich with a side of Doritos. A graphic designer offered to design my first logo in exchange for me doing a photo shoot of him riding his motorcycle.
We exchanged his photos for my logo and called it a day. This set off a string of game-changing barters that revolutionized my business. That was the first time I realized I could build my business on a series of trades. I didn’t have money, but I had skills (photography) and products (photos) I could trade with. And I believe you can do the same. Here’s a video explaining my entire process… The barter proposal always started with me reaching out (via email or social media), which was intimidating. It wasn’t until I created a series of templates that emboldened me after receiving tons of positive responses. And that’s what I’m sharing with you today. My email templates can be downloaded >>HERE<<, so feel free to copy, amend, add-to to make them your own. I can’t wait to hear about the amazing barters you create soon! via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2kEIodw New Instagram Updates December 2017

Before you jump the gun with purchasing or downloading, it’s best you get acquainted with the latest tweaks: 1.)Organization Final Cut Pro X is the first edition of its kind to utilize meta-data, that magical abundance of information hidden within each and every photo, video, or still. Using this tool allows the user to drastically streamline workflow, giving editors the capability to shuttle between the exact frames they need, putting the time they formerly spent searching to good use. This feature is primarily found in the Smart Bin, the first-stop destination to store your content in after giving it a searchable term. The title “bin,” however, is misleading insofar as it is not a passive device for containment and storage, but an active machine for reading and comprehending your footage. For example, it can extract and analyze audio content, differentiating between background noise, voice-over narration, or other events such as tire squeals. Then, following your instructions, it color codes these sections appropriately, pointing out to the editor all the sections where narration is involved, or where silence can be found, etc. Outside of the mesmerization factor, this tool is key for documentarians and other filmmakers utilizing various medias in their work. To be able to know beforehand exactly where all of one’s “talking heads” are featured, for example, is invaluable when doing sound checks for the human voice. The “Key Wording Feature,” meanwhile, while less sexy, is no less invaluable. It allows the user to tag stretches of video with a unique search term. In doing so, a list of content is created under each term, allowing one to edit similar items simultaneously, while leaving dissimilar items for later. No more scrolling back and forth on a video because two sections are meant to have similar coloration; simply tag each identically, and work on them side-by-side while the rest disappears. X, it seems, finally brings Final Cut Pro into the era of big data (in small batches). 2.) Colors! They really dove deep on this one. The list of coloration capabilities on X would bring joy to even the staunchest of art history snobs. Instead of settling for your usual “brightness, saturation, blah blah blah…” they up the ante and bring in context-specific tools such as the Video Scope and Luma Curve. Each sizes up your content in order to recommend and implement appropriate color changes. The lone editor gains oodles of encoded knowledge with these additions, having to rely less on pure experimentation and their own subjective biases The bells and whistles, meanwhile, are extensive. For starters, they’ve added real, draggable color wheels, the comprehensiveness of which allows for high specificity. Find a color you love? Copy its color grade and paste it wherever you’d like, recreating it instantly. Or, save it for later and when you need that perfect (insert color here), and whip it right out. No perfect shade shall ever be lost to the cosmos again. They’ve also upped the sophistication of the overall color editing process, allowing the “stacking” of effects, outputs being sensitive to their particular ordering. The color gamut available for use, meanwhile, has been vastly expanded, encompassing “all the colors the human eye can see.” Nits, finally, the measure of visibility light intensity, have been pushed to 400-500 from the standard 100 you’d find on most editing software. Let the ocular dazzlement begin. 3.) VR VR VR VR In a world where “engagement” is the name of the game, immersion may be your best chance at attaining that holy grail. The most full-immersion media out there? VR. And now, Final Cut has your VR editing needs covered, too. For starters, they employ a flattened-out reconfiguration of your 360-degree work for ease of editing, allowing you to see all objects at once. Then, at any point, you can view the work through VR goggles to preview it as it will ultimately be seen. The instantaneousness of being able to do so means knowing your work is 360-degree ready by time of export. Want to share it on social media? One-click capabilities are available for that as well. Besides the ability to add graphics, titles, animations and effects, the coolest and most VR-specific tool X brings to the table is the “cloning” ability. This allows you to take a piece of the still and replicate it over the point where the filmmaker would be standing, creating a truly 360-degree environment free from evidence of its production. Wandering through the forest has never been so fun, or bug free. Price Point: The “X’ update is free for preexisting Final Cut Pro users, just download. For the rest of us, $299.99 will you get you the best video editing software out there. Students–in yet another move to shield them from the real world–can bundle Final Cut, Logic, and iMovie for $399.99. Price sound steep? Christmastime is here, ask someone else to get it for you. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2C8POMW

Yup, it’s as ridiculous as it sounds. But, what’s even more ridiculous is that once upon a time (before pissing off a whole country), the Dasilvas had an Instagram account called @traveling_butts, that had a dedicated news feed of “belfies” taken around the globe. Some may think the Traveling_butts’ Instagram page is hilarious or even empowering and some may think it’s highly offensive. For Bangkok, it was purely disrespectful. Remember, it’s one thing to pose your rear for the camera in your own country, especially America, but doing it in a conservative and foreign land, in front of a holy temple, is another. Many claim that this little stunt could put a big halt on the legalization of gay marriage in many Asian countries, which is a big deal. Before you point the finger, this misfortune has nothing to do with sexual-identity or gender because in fact it was very insensitive and harmful to all. Before posing for the photo, the pair really should’ve considered where they were, how it will be perceived, and who it will affect in the end. Now, you may be wondering how justice was served for their crimes. Well, the couple was ultimately fined $153 US dollars each for indecent public exposure on religious grounds. They may not get away that easy after all, since the police are still in pursuit of adding more charges against the couple, which can land them in jail for up to 7 years. So folks, what did we learn today? That bearing your ass in front of a holy temple for an Instagram post is not right or worth the consequences.
via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2BcwMIJ We’ve all heard of Netflix, and more so, we’ve all likely spent hours sucked into the world of one TV show or another that makes up the steaming system’s extensive collection of content. With 75 million yearly subscribers, Netflix is a television powerhouse, home to some of the most high profile shows in existence.
It is every television show maker’s dream to see their show in the homes of millions of people across the world, and there is really no place more desirable to make this happen than through Netflix…but getting this done is an incredibly difficult task. How do you make it happen? It starts with the idea. You are going to need something pretty damn unique, as the tv world has never been richer in creativity than it is today. But fresh ideas are out there, and if you think you’ve got a good one then hold on to it tightly. You are going to have to flesh out your concept in detail, familiarizing yourself with all of the things your show would encompass, from characters to setting to style to plot. Getting your prospective show out there does not mean you need to write an entire series worth of content, oftentimes you need only a great, well-thought out idea to hook the right people who can get you where you want to go. But, more often than not, you as the writer will need to develop a coherent script for, at the very least, the pilot episode of your show. TV Production companies are rarely interested in an “idea”, as everyone has ideas. If you are able to buckle down and put your idea into a developed, thoughtful script, preferably a couple of episodes, you are much more likely to catch the eye of a production company. These people want to see that you have thought out your idea and have enough material to turn it into a potentially long-lasting television show. You are then going to want to get in touch with a producer or agent that best matches the direction you see your show heading in. You should do extensive research to determine which production companies and studios would be a good fit, who specifically you should contact, how they like to be queried (email, fax, mail, etc.) and what exactly they are looking for in terms of content (comedy, drama, sci-fi, etc.) The absolute best case scenario is to pitch in person, if you can manage to find a connection to a producer or somehow manage to arrange an in person meeting—it is the easiest way to passionately pitch your show, and you will be there to be certain nothing is misunderstood and the agent/producer is clear on your ideas and visions. There are a number of questions you should absolutely be able to answer about your show before heading into a pitch. These include:
Now, if you’ve got an agent/producer, preferably one who has ties with Netflix already, you are on track to getting your show on to Netflix’s radar. Your form of representation will assist in readying your project to be pitched to the network. If this is successful, you will be able to sell your show to Netflix for a discussed sum of money, as well as negotiate a contract for an order number of episodes and compensation as per the terms of the agreement. From there, it can take any amount of time to get your show up onto the TV screen, if it even makes it to that point. The TV industry is incredibly fickle, with shows being picked up, produced and fully made only to be cancelled at the final moment. There are no set steps to creating a show and successfully getting it into the most sought-after streaming service. Hundreds of creators have taken different routes, as a lot of it depends on connections/chance encounters, and what works for some people will not work for the other. It is important to dedicate everything you have to creating your show if this is something you truly want to do, and following your gut and intuition in terms of choosing a next step is incredibly important. But, hopefully by following these steps you will give yourself the best possible chance to make your tv-show worthy idea a reality. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2B3O8XX Prospective A.I. Software Will Be Able to Change The Weather Time and Season Of Your Photos
12/11/2017
This new A.I innovation allows for unsupervised image-to-image translation that will strive to enable you to change the weather, time of day, and season of your photos with the click of a button. Scientists of NVIDIA are working on this new artificial intelligence system that will make this a simple process, changing the world of photography greatly. In an extensive document called “Unsupervised Image-to-Image Translation Networks,” this process is laid out in details that are rather complex. The scientists explain that they will train the AI to use before and after images to enable the system to recognize specific elements of a photo and use this to change around basic features like the light in the sky or snow on the ground. Though innovative, this process is rather difficult because it involves capturing near perfect before and after images in high quality in order for the AI to successfully hone this skill. The scientists have begun testing their method, using a series of image translations to show us the changes we may be able to make to photos in the future. Check out some of their examples:
Snowy to Sunny Sunny to Snowy Sunny to Rainy Day to Night “We presented a general framework for unsupervised image-to-image translation,” the scientists share. “We showed it learned to translate an image from one domain to another without any corresponding images in two domains in the training dataset.” More information is available on the NVIDIA website or by reading the paper article. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2jMvcU8 |
