They say “home is where the heart is” but a home is not always just about four walls or simply where you are from, it is where you belong. Some people travel the whole world to find it, others find it with two eyes and a heartbeat. It’s a powerful blog this week.

Here’s what Julie had to say about Laura’s image: “There is no mistaking Laura’s work. Obviously the adorable model helps me to identify it but she also has such a distinctive style and I never fail to stop scrolling and take in every detail of her images. Not only is she a fabulous photographer, she is also so generous with her knowledge and time. Always willing to share how she works so others can benefit and quick to praise and encourage those around her. There is so much to talk about in this image. I think the first thing I am struck by is the warmth and magic. It’s just inviting me in! I start with that beautiful face bathed in beautiful light and looking so completely angelic but when I can eventually drag myself away I start looking around the rest of the frame. And as always, Laura knows how to set a scene. She has this way of including what some might describe as ‘clutter’ and making it enhance the image enormously. I love looking around at the knick-knacks in the room. I love that the other wardrobe door is open revealing bits and pieces on the shelf. It makes it for me. Thanks for sharing your images with us Laura!”

Storm-chasing usually has one of two outcomes: incredible shots or death. It’s important to prepare, prepare, prepare before you decide to go out with a camera and chase mother nature’s frustration. There are so many different forms and categories of storms to consider before you decide to put your life at risk. We care about your safety and you care about the outcome of the photos, so let us lend you some sound advice for you and the photography world’s sake. Do Your Research – Just having a desire to chase and capture storms is not nearly enough to take it up. You need to be informed on what kind of storm you’re looking at, what it’s capable of, where it’s headed, and when it will strengthen or subside. We know you are familiar with photography, but you may be lacking in knowing the ins and outs of storms. With that in mind, pick up some books on hurricanes, tornados, or other natural disasters. It’s all about getting into the world of storm chasing by jumping in full force, with a want to learn as much as possible, for your safety and work’s end result. Your best bet for a crash course in this field is by attending a storm chasing convention, like ChaserCon, and the upside to that, is being in the presence of many professionals that will answer all your pressing questions.
Have A Side Hustle – Unfortunately, there is a boat load of time and money that goes into storm-chasing. It wouldn’t be the best hobby or career choice for someone who doesn’t have a penny in their savings account. With storm-chasing comes a list of expenses including gas, lots of gas, hotels, equipment, insurance (if your car or gear gets destroyed in the process). Plus, capturing nature’s outburst’s is quite the waiting game. So make sure that you have thought out the financial tolls that photographing storms will bring. We aren’t saying chuck the idea or your passion out the window, but storm chasing is an investment, and it’s best to be practical. We can only hope this list made you feel more prepared for storm-chasing. Also know that we praise anyone who wants to be in this area of extreme photography, because it takes guts! Furthermore, always remember your safety comes first above all, and if that’s taken care of we encourage you to enjoy the adventure one lighting strike at a time!

The specifics that went into this site seem to be by the creator and for the creator, and it’s us who know whats best for our industry. In conclusion, if this site is right for you, get on the grind, it’ll guarantee money and time saved for new or unfinished works. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2iWfyoC As of today, Minted has officially launched the first ever on-demand, in-home portrait photography service, called Photo-Op. They have made it easier than ever to hire a photographer to come to you at the place and time of your choosing, meaning any event can be captured and shared with quality images. The starting price for one of these sessions is $100 for a 30-minute in-person shoot with an independent portrait photographer hired through the Minted system. There has been a recent surge in the on-demand lifestyle, with people wanting instant service with the least amount of hassle— Photo-Op marks a step in this direction, completely revamping the traditional booking of a photo studio service. On this matter, Minted CEO and Founder, Mariam Naficy says, “Today’s connected generation expects to be able to have services delivered in the convenience of their own home and as easy as calling a ride or delivering a meal.” Minted screens the photographers who want to join the service before they become an official part of the system, to ensure that they are able to deliver high-quality results upon shooting. The main thing here is that the photographer is able to work with what the customer wants, while still maintaining some creative freedom to get the best possible shots. Before hiring, users will be prompted to take a quiz or survey to gauge what it is they are looking for, like certain poses or effects, and they use this to match the customer with a compatible photographer. Additionally, users who want to choose their photographer based off of their work can browse a specific list of established photographers in their area. Following the photoshoot, after about three days, customers will receive 10 expertly retouched photos which can then be reviewed and loaded into the customer’s cart for purchase. On the appeal of Photo-Op to potential clients, CEO Mariam Naficy says, “What’s surprising is there are all these ancillary wedding events, like bridesmaids going out. There are all things like, ‘we went to the salon together.’ There are all these mini-events under the wedding umbrella. They wanted to use photo-op because it wasn’t expensive. They trusted our brand. What we found, in general, was that there are lots of events in peoples’ lives that they’d like to have documented that they would use this service for.” Because the service is so new, Naficy says the $100 price point isn’t necessarily set in stone, because Minted is still figuring out a balance between charging enough to pay their photographers without it being too expensive that it turns people away. She says, “I think, the price point in general though is one where we can fairly pay the photographer and attract enough people.” Photo-Op is sure to change the standards of the hired professional photographer, as it mixes society’s thirst for instant satisfaction with quality, reliable service providers. The next time you have an event, be it a big party or small, cozy get-together, Minted’s Photo-Op grants you the freedom of capturing these beautiful moments at your easiest convenience. The pilot has launched in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles.

One of the most unique features is that it gives you access to all camera settings on the handle without ever having to touch the screen. Don’t let the small frame fool ya, this DSLR is certainly a full-framed performer as they claim with a 26.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 7 Image Processor. Also featured is a 45-point all-cross type AF system, which is certainly a one-up from it’s predecessor giving you the opportunity to track your subject with accuracy. Another revamped spec is the Full HD at 60p, that provides an improved focus for live viewing and videoing compared to the older Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. It doesn’t stop there though, the camera is now dust and water proof, with a built in GPS for geo-tagging, also including a wifi and bluetooth connector for your smartphone. Basically you get all you need in this one camera, and if you plan on gifting it, don’t worry about the gift receipt, they surely won’t need it. Canon Powershot G1X Mark II Digital Camera -$649.00 The advanced and new-to-the-game Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II is the whole enchilada, when compared to other digital cameras. It may be small and compact but it sure packs a punch. With upgraded features including: 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens with optical image stabilizer, DIGIC 6 image processor, and 1.5-inch 12.8 megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, this camera is closing the gap between digital cameras and DSLRs. Not to mention, the 9 blade aperture feature that will help you take stunning photos with the professional blurred background look. Okay, so it can take great photos, but can it take solid videos? If you guess yes, you guessed right. On top of it all, it can be shot at 1080 HD. This new PowerShot also has a pop-up extended flash and capacitive 3.0-inch tilt-type touch panel LCD. What’s not to love about this camera? The price is $649.00 and will quite possibly be the best first investment for your start-up photography career.

You can automatically upload all your footage and photos onto your smartphone through the THETA iOS/Android app. The battery gets you as far as being able to shoot 300 photos and 80 minutes of video, so if you’re taking it on a hike you’re good to go. Dear friend, Like, oh hey, I’m not screaming into a void of social media, blogging, and videos. You’re here. There’s something that resonates with me in a deep way knowing our paths have crossed. Perhaps we connected by way of photography or my business tips, but I just want to say THANK YOU for being reading this. We’re on a journey and though my path has taken twists, turns, and pitfalls along the way, I’m proud to be left standing…with you by my side. It’s Thanksgiving week here in the U.S., a time when Americans gather around the table and express what they’re grateful for. Amongst other things, please know I’m thankful for you. Thankful that I’m not alone, thankful to have people just as weird as I am trying to carve their place in life. Here’s to us, friend. I appreciate you. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://ift.tt/2zrlEaU 10th anniversaries only come once in a couple’s lifetime, so why not make it a memorable one with a super rad photo shoot? After, Steve and Danielle VanHorn from Dover, Ohio got a kick out of eyeing their friends and families own awkward portraits from the 1980’s they decided they needed some similar snaps of their own. The couples take take on how the pictures would come out, was everything but serious. They ultimately aimed for a silly and comical approach, and boy did they achieve just that. The real question is, how in the hell did photographer, Vanessa Hoffmann, keep her shit together during such a ridiculously funny portrait project? Don’t get me wrong, the overall idea for an ’80s themed shoot was killer, but Hoffmann really made it happen by simply agreeing to do something so far from her usual formal portrait photography.
