Bad news is everywhere. Without even trying, our minds can be clouded with pitch black thoughts creeping in from social media, news headlines, and so much more. >>But if you can look far beyond the darkness, your eyes will begin to focus on the light.<< And if you can’t find the light, you can BE the light. 4/8/2020
Boo boo, do you have questions about Instagram?
Look, I understand that running a business is hard. Add in the ever-evolving social media aspect, and things can get a little frustrating! I recently attended the Thriving Stylist Tribe live event, hosted by Britt Seva, where stylists asked me some of their burning questions on the hot topic of Instagram, and I wanted to pass my answers along to you. *Basically, the flash fire question party was in full effect, and I want you to join in on the fun!* >>You have questions. I have answers.<< If the following answers helped you in any way, but you’re still looking for more, send me your questions in a DM on Instagram and I’d be happy to include them in a future Q&A post! How do I reach two audiences with one Instagram account? Determine how much income you’d like to bring in from each sector and apply that percentage to the amount of times you post for each intended audience. For example, if you are a hair stylist and want half of your income to come from education and half to come from clients physically sitting in your chair, then split up your weekly posts 50/50. This will show that you’re an authority in BOTH fields and will drive more customers. How important is it to have a pretty Instagram feed? If you had asked me this question in 2016, you would’ve heard me say that Instagram was meant to look like a pretty magazine with curated photos so people knew who you were instantly. Now, however, I believe that people want to see real moments. And I believe that showing up and showing yourself is much more important than a flawless grid. >>Prioritize authenticity over perfection and people will notice.<< How much of my personal content do I share? There is no right or wrong answer here. Rather, it all depends on what you’re willing to share. Something I’ve noticed from my own experience is that personal content drives engagement far more than business content. So, my advice is to share who you are and what you do in whatever way you’re most comfortable with. How do I stand out on Instagram when everyone is posting the same thing? Don’t overthink it, boo boo! >>There is absolutely ZERO original content anymore.<< That’s why you have to be yourself and put your own spin on things. If you want to set yourself apart from the crowd, remember the three M’s:
*In other words, in order to stand out, you gotta do you!* >>It is my goal to make the impossibilities possible for YOU.<< One way I do this is by providing group coaching within the membership community of Social Curator. I take answers just like the ones above and provide simple answers AND done-for-you solutions. *In other words, I’ll provide the loving kick in the pants that your business needs!* If you’d like a personal cheerleader, a fierce community of fellow business owners, and MUCH MORE, join the waitlist to be the first to find out when the doors to Social Curator will open for enrollment next! “Hey, Jasmine, I’m so burnt out from posting on social media. What now?” Boo boo, if I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard this question, I could probably retire! The fact that people ask me this constantly goes to show that more people suffer with social media burnout than you may think. *Myself included!* Friend, if I can offer any comfort, it’s this: you’re not alone. >>All entrepreneurs working hard on social media deal with content creation frustration.<< Every. Single. One. Lucky for you, I won’t be retiring anytime soon, so I’m here to provide you with a solution to avoid burnout! My framework shows how I create posts from large pieces of content by turning them into smaller social posts. Here’s how you can work smarter, not harder during the content creation process: Write A Blog PostStart by writing a large piece of content. For me, that’s best accomplished in a blog post. I create almost all of the content on my platforms based on three blogs that I post each week. To determine blog topics, scroll through previous comments on your posts and find questions from followers. You can also answer questions that you may have had when you first started your business. Another idea is to check out Google Trends to see topics that are trending in your industry. Basically, the content options are endless, so get writing! Turn The Blog Post Into Video ContentNext up, turn that written content into video form. Use your blog post as an outline to create content for Youtube, Facebook, or Instagram. And don’t worry if you don’t have a professional camera…or even the skills to go with it. I go live every single week on my social media platforms by simply bringing out my phone, pressing the “Live” button, and speaking to my followers. >>Done is better than perfect.<< The more you practice, the better (and easier) it’ll get! Break It Up For Social Media PostsThe final phase of this process is breaking down your large content into bite-sized, easy-to-read posts. Cut clips of your video for your Instagram Stories or take content straight from your blog and use as captions for a post! You can also pull graphics from your videos to use as images. There is A LOT of content that can come from one blog post or video, so take advantage of the work that you’ve already created and you’ll have captions, quotes, and clips for days! >>Say goodbye to stressing out about what to post and hello to a streamlined process for engagement!<< Buttercup, I hope these tips will help you the next time you’re feeling burnt out. I am so looking forward to seeing your beautiful content all over your social media platforms! If you are ready to create incredible content for your followers with this simple strategy, you can find a step-by-step tutorial by downloading my FREE Facebook Live checklist. No fancy setup requirements, just simple tips for REAL confidence and connections! I’m currently going down an Easter bunny-sized rabbit hole on Instagram looking for small businesses to support to fill my daughter’s first Easter basket. *OMGGGG, I’m tempted to throw away my retirement fund just to buy all the cute knit dolls and booties!* But in all seriousness, this is a challenging time for all of us. For many, we’ve been on lockdown for what seems like years, while the end seems so far out of reach. While you may be running out of household chores to accomplish, makeshift homeschool ideas, and every last ounce of patience, I want to remind you of one thing: >>Even though we are cooped up, we are not cooped in.<< In spite of the odds, in spite of the economy, in spite of the fact that we’re basically on house arrest, we will continue to rise up. *Can somebody say AMEN?!* There’s a silver lining to every situation, and while it may be easier for some to see than others, something positive to come out of this pandemic is the fact that people are spending more time online than ever before. People are furiously scrolling for education, entertainment, and an escape. This means that now is the time for business owners to SHOW UP and give people what they want. Take this opportunity, run with it, and build your business… no matter how uncertain or scary. >>The only way to grow is to CHOOSE fortitude, not fear.<< Friend, fear might be knocking on your door right now, but I believe you are capable of chasing it off *from six feet away, with a can of Lysol and a roll of toilet paper, of course*. It’s your time to shine, boo, and I’ve got some ideas on how you can make that happen. Below are five ways you can choose fortitude and build your business in uncertain times. Collaborate With PeersNow is the time… to dig in to the tasks you’ve been putting off in your own business by helping others in return. Offer your talents to someone else in exchange for a website refresh, finance audit, or anything in between. Volunteer Your TalentsNow is the time… to give, give, give. Serve people well NOW so they come back for more LATER. Create E-Learning ExperiencesNow is the time… to create an experience that showcases your business. People turn to the Internet in times of need, so you can provide a reason for them to turn to YOU. Invest In A New SkillNow is the time… to not only fine-tune your current skills, but also to open your eyes to other opportunities that will broaden your horizons and enhance your capabilities in running a business. Start A New ProjectNow is the time… to give yourself freedom to create something new. No rules to follow. No pressure that it has to work. Just do it. Friend, these are the exact steps I’m taking in my own business TODAY to ensure I push through… and I want the same for you. >>There comes a time when you must continue to rise up to the challenge, no matter how many times you’ve been knocked down.<< That time is now. If you’re ready to get started but don’t know where to begin, click >>HERE<< to get access to a sneak peek of the Social Curator experience. Inside this FREE Issue, we’ve provided you with Instagram Story templates, customizable captions, lifestyle photos, and a marketing action plan to ensure you’ve got all the tools you need to help you show up on social media.
