The post Biggest Product Releases at CES 2019 appeared first on Resource. via RSSMix.com Mix ID 8230553 http://bit.ly/2DzQwqb “Hey, Jasmine, doesn’t Facebook and Instagram get in the way or distract you?” he asked on an Instagram post. I get questions all the time on how I balance my personal life and social media, so I would love to create a conversation around your advice and tips, but I thought I’d share my approach, too. It’s no secret that social media can be addicting, so setting boundaries is crucial if you want to find balance. I don’t think I have set the perfect social media boundaries, but I do think it’s important we are all aware of the time we are spending scrolling… and try our best to find the right fit for us. Below are my top 5 tips for balancing social media with your life, keeping away from distraction, and actually using Instagram and Facebook to grow your business. 1. Set times each day to engage. I limit myself to two or three 20-30 minute increments per day to respond to DMs and comments, peruse hashtags, and the like. This boundary is so important for me because with a time limit, I tend to be more efficient and productive with the time I’m spending on the app. 2. Engage while you’re waiting in line. When I am in line at the post office or grocery store, I choose to use Instagram to engage with content, not consume. The difference is: when I consume, I am scrolling aimlessly and casually liking or leaving a comment. However, when I engage, I am actively starting conversations on behalf of my business. 3. Respect others’ wishes. When my husband (and business partner), JD, asks me to put away my phone, I do. Being fully present for my partner both in life and in business is the key to balance. I really want to respect those limits because if not, I will definitely be the one to push them! 4 + 5. Don’t open your phone for the first and last hour of the day. I choose to keep all electronics away right when I wake up and before I go to sleep. This is partially due to the presence I choose to cultivate with myself and my husband during these hours. It is also to combat being distracted by my social media at the beginning and end of my day so I can focus on myself and my business. Now I know I am not the expert on setting boundaries with social media because I am constantly assessing and refining my approach. However, my hope is for this post to be a reference for you to create balance, space, and presence in your businesses and lives.
